The same way you look at food labels, you should do the same for your beauty products and household products. There are thousands of chemicals in your products, many of which are being absorbed into your body. Companies have cart blanche to use any ingredient or raw material without government review or approval. This industry is highly unregulated. There is no pre-product approval before a product hits the market and enters your home. A minuscule approval process exists, but only for color additives and ingredients classified as over-the-counter drugs.
Many of these synthetic chemicals are skin irritants, skin penetrators, endocrine disrupters and are carcinogenic. It’s impossible to avoid every single synthetic chemical, but you can do your part in limiting the amount of toxins your body is exposed to.
To support my own health and the health of my family I have chosen to switch all of my products to natural chemical free alternatives. The majority of my products now come from doTerra as their high grade digestible oils are just so lovely and make me feel amazing.
Essential oils are natural aromatic compounds found in the seeds, bark, stems, roots, flowers, and other parts of plants. As they are made of tiny molecules they absorb into the skin or enter into the lungs when diffused or smelt. When using the best quality oils, you can use a diffuser so they become airborne in the environment around you. You can dissolve oils in a bath and have a long soak so they are absorbed into the skin and if combined in a carrier oil, they go beautifully as an all over rmoisturiser.
